Enjoy A Dazzling Musical Or Broadway-Style Performance
Royal Caribbean is well known for its amazing onboard entertainment, and this cr....uise ship lives up to that legacy. The two shows onboard are truly wow-worthy, and among the best free things to do onboard. One is an homage to Argentina’s iconic dances, called Tango Buenos Aires. The other, Broadway Rhythm & Rhyme, plays tribute to the hottest hits off Broadway in a stunning showcase of choreography and musical talent. Admission to both shows is complimentary to cruise guests. Read more Read less
Enjoy A Movie Under The Stars
Enjoy A Movie Under The Stars
One of the best free things to do onboard Grandeur of the Seas is to cozy up on ....the pool deck for a low-key movie night under the stars. Showings on the giant projector screen rotate throughout your sailing and can range from decades-old classics to recent blockbuster hits — check your Cruise Compass for the latest schedule. I like to grab a towel from my stateroom to snuggle up with, along with a nice glass of bubbly. Hit The Rock-Climbing Wall
Hit The Rock-Climbing Wall
As I mentioned earlier, the rock-climbing wall is one of my favorite attractions.... onboard Grandeur of the Seas. Towering 40-feet tall, it’s a great way to get in a workout without the humdrum of the elliptical or the weight room. I like to hit it first thing in the morning with either my husband, brother or dad, when the air is crisp and the sun hasn’t yet fully ascended into the sky — though the hours just before and just after sunset yield the prettiest light. Making it to the top is always a bit of a challenge (especially if you’re slightly afraid of heights, like me), but I remind myself that the reward — the most incredible views from the ship — are well worth the ache in my arms and the butterflies in my belly. If your family is competitive, up the ante by racing a relative to the summit. Read more Read less

Level Up Your Poolside Bonding
Level Up Your Poolside Bonding
I love the pool decks on smaller, more well-traveled ships — and Grandeur of the.... Seas has one of my favorite pool areas of all time. The intimate pool deck on this cruise ship makes it easy to get to know your fellow cruisers during an afternoon spent lounging. This is especially helpful if you’re looking to connect with other grown-ups or hoping your little ones will make friends with others their own age. One of the things I love about this particular pool scene is that it’s tranquil during the early morning hours, but gradually comes to life throughout the day with impromptu musical performances, fun activities led by the cruise director, and more. Whether you’re looking to disconnect or live it up, penciling in some pool time during any getaway at sea is a key ingredient for great family-friendly cruises. Read more Read less

Sometimes they’ll be listed via your Cruise Planner app ahead of your sailing, allowing you to pack themed accessories and even costumes. If you don’t have anything other than your vacation wardrobe to wear, don’t worry — you’ll typically see performers handing out accessories and props to cruise guests during these super-fun onboard parties. These are just some of the many unique activities and experiences onboard Grandeur of the Seas that help set the stage for the best family cruises. Spend A Few Hours In The Arcade
Spend A Few Hours In The Arcade
Arcade games aren’t totally my jam, but the guys in my family grew up on them. W....henever we sail together on a ship with an arcade, they like to spend a few hours challenging each other at games like Skee-Ball and Sega’s Daytona Racer. I’m partial to Dance Dance Revolution, and my mom is always game to join me (she says the more rounds she completes, the more piña coladas she can indulge in poolside). The games inside the arcade onboard Grandeur of the Seas aren’t included in your cruise fare, but the cost for each is pretty low — from $0.75 to $2.50, depending on the game. The memories you’ll make with your loved ones (not to mention the video of me and my mom trying to time our DDR dance moves just right)? Priceless. Read more Read less

Room Service
There’s nothing basic about wanting to stay in the comfort of your stateroom to ....enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bond Over Memorable Family Meals
Bond Over Memorable Family Meals
Food is a big deal in my family — we’re Cuban, after all — which is yet another ....reason why I think Grandeur of the Seas has delivered some of our best family vacations. The cruise dining options onboard are awesome, and there are enough of them that we can dine somewhere new every day on a seven-night sailing. My favorite options onboard include the buffet-style Windjammer, a casual, complimentary restaurant that serves rotating global fare during breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also love the sushi rolls and izakaya-style options at Izumi, one of the ship’s most popular specialty restaurants. My brother and dad are steak lovers, so their go-to is Chops GrilleSM, the ship’s upscale steakhouse. It’s a great place for special-occasion dinners, and there are seafood options on the menu for those who prefer lighter entrees to prime cuts of meat. For my husband, it’s all about the hearty Tuscan-inspired entrees at Giovanni’sSM Table, a lovely trattoria-style restaurant that will transport you straight to Italy, no matter where in the world you happen to be sailing. Café Latte-Tudes
Café Latte-Tudes
Speaking of breakfast, one of my favorite haunts onboard this cruise ship is Caf....é Latte-Tudes. This cozy little nook is so much more than just a coffee shop — though the daily brews are out of this world. The baristas here are skilled at whipping up stellar macchiatos, cappuccinos and more, and there’s always a mouthwatering selection of pastries and baked goods to go with every last drop. I love to stop by in the morning and in the evening, especially if the day’s had more adventures than relaxation and I’m hoping to spend the night out on the ship. If you’re craving something stronger in your brew, you can ask the team to spike it with your favorite spirit — it’s the ultimate pre-dinner pick-me-up. Read more Read less

If you’re not a meat-eater, you’ll still find lots of tantalizing options on the menu, including succulent Maine lobster and tender branzino — not to mention raw seafood classics and family-style sides that elevate every meal. Izumi
Izumi is your go-to if you’re craving Asian-inspired flavors during your cruise ....onboard Grandeur of the Seas. Main Dining Room
Main Dining Room
A staple on any Royal Caribbean cruise ship, the main dining room serves an incr....edible multi-course feast every evening for dinner. Ahead of your cruise, you’ll get to select your preferred seating time. Alternatively, you can choose My Time Dining, which allows you to eat in the main dining room whenever you like during dinner hours, according to availability. If you’re traveling with a family or a large group, I suggest choosing a dining time ahead of your sailing, so that you can always be guaranteed a table together (or several tables close to each other, if your group is really big) at the appointed hour. Dishes on the menu in the main dining room rotate daily — though you will find some tried-and-true favorites that don’t change. The most iconic item on the menu, however, is the Royal Kümmelweck, a roast beef sandwich that’s become something of a legend (and a rite of passage) among Royal Caribbean cruisers.
